I'm a computer geek.

I've been using computers since I was about 12 years old. That makes 24+ years.
I've done just about everything you can do with computers from programming to graphics design to webpage design to music composing and more.
I grew up in a small town in New South Wales, Australia. When I was about 21 I moved to Newcastle to live with my cousins and escape the small town mentality. From there I shortly made many friends on IRC on the internet and moved to Sydney since I was travelling there most weekends anyway. I spent about 10-11 years in Sydney having different jobs and finally was married and had a daughter, Sienna.
A few years after this we moved to the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Shortly afterwards I became divorced and moved to west of Brisbane. These days I live close to Brisbane city area.

Asteroid Attack!
I downloaded Gamemaker last Saturday and am proud to present my new game "Asteroid Attack!".

Asteroid Attack is a fun, entertaining kids game written by Jason Oakley,
where you fly a spaceship through an asteroid field out in space.

At the bottom of the screen is your Heads-Up display with vital information.
On the left is your current score. Next to that is your Level. To the right are your
Fuel and Shields levels.

Use the arrow keys to move.

Catch the stars for points and avoid the asteroids.

At a certain level shields become available.
Pick up the shields orb to charge up your shields.
When the shields are running low a ticking sound will be heard.
When they have run out you will hear a noise and they will fade out.
Activated shields will make asteroids bounce off your ship.

Make sure you pick up extra fuel.
When you are running low a gas tank will appear to pick up.
Get it to fuel up your tank!

Watch out for the Black-holes as they will suck you in.

Holiday over
Sienna and I are back home again after our trip to see Nonna and Poppy about 650km South.

I was going to go after swimming last Saturday but I couldn’t sleep. I woke at 3am and couldn’t get back to sleep so packed the car ready for our trip. After putting it all in and remembering all the stuff to add I hadn’t already packed, having a shower and getting ready then carrying Sienna into the car while mostly asleep we went to the local Post Office to check my mail and came back to pick up Sienna’s spaghetti and off we left. We eventually left around 5am.

By the time it was after lunch we had arrived. My friends Brad and Cassie phoned to meet up. We met them at McDonalds and I had a coffee while Sienna played with a group of kids there for a party. We chatted for a few hours and left to get dinner for us all.

Sunday we drove to Forster for lunch and to do some shopping. It was raining. In fact it rained every day we were there despite poppy saying they’d only had hot sunny days until we arrived. Mum bought me a cappuccino maker machine with some ground coffee beans. Sweet! I always wanted one :D They also bought Sienna some shoes.

Monday we took poppy out Geocaching. I found one cache but while looking for the other down the bottom of a crappy overgrown track it started raining and Sienna needed to go to the loo, so we headed home.

Tuesday we went to Port Macquarie and did some more shopping. Mostly nonna and poppy shopped while we tagged along.

Wednesday I went to see Brad and Cassie for a few hours to catch up. I do miss seeing my friends and had a nice time chatting and watching TV.

Yesterday while nonna and poppy were busy we went to the shops and bought some things from BIG W. We bought nonna a mood egg which charges on a base and emits colours, slowly changing through the rainbow. She loved it. We could leave it in the hallway at night time and when nonna went to the loo she could see where to go without turning on the bright hallway lights. She wants to get another one. We got a game for poppy’s pc: World Snooker Championship 2004. It was the only game I could find to work on his old pc. We also picked up The Demolition Man dvd for poppy. While looking for the last one Sienna decided to find something for poppy. She skipped into a shop and went right up the back and picked up a set of Pepper and Salt shakers. I told her poppy wouldn’t want them and we looked around until I found the above DVD. Well, last night poppy was looking through a catalogue and said “These pepper and salt shakers are nice. I wish I had them since my shakers are broken”. So, Sienna was right hehe.

Today we drove back home again and only got in about 7:15pm after picking up a couple of things from Coles so we’d have dinner and breakfast. I will go back again tomorrow to shop for the rest of the week. I don’t think I’ll be up too late tonight. So exhausted. Poppy is looking after a friend’s home while they are away and the alarm went off at 3am so he was called by the security place to go check it out. I woke up with the front door opening and closing so got up to see what was happening. I went to check on poppy and came back and we all had a cuppa tea. Not long after I finished and we were all having a chat Sienna woke up and couldn’t find me so started crying. I went back to bed to comfort her but neither of us got to sleep for about 1.5-2hrs and she woke up again at about 6:30am. I didn’t get back to sleep after that so got up at about 8am after lying there for a while. I was tempted to leave driving until tomorrow but don’t want Sienna to miss another swimming lesson plus the fish needed feeding so we came home.

Weekend update
Friday afternoon I went to the local chemist and had a sleep test questionnaire. They say I’m a high risk for sleep apnoea (I already knew this) and are going to test me in November by getting me to strap a machine to myself and let the sensors read my vitals overnight.

I went home and Catherine came over and we grabbed our suitcases and headed for the train. She was astonished at the price ($17 each) to go to the airport. We caught the train, changed at Eagle Junction and then hopped off at the Domestic Terminal. We booked in and got our plane. While flying Catherine suggested we get a drink. They have small sized bottles of wine on the plane so I pressed the hostess button. She came over and I asked for a drink. She said they would be up soon with the trolley. They brought the trolley up and asked what we’d like. We ordered two bottles each. They said we could only have one each at a time, but could pay for both and they would come back with the others afterwards. She said to push the button when we were ready for the other bottles. I was going to push it again and nearly did but didn’t ;) We drank our bottles and they brought the other ones which we had on the way back to Earth near Newcastle. My cousin and her boyfriend picked us up and we headed to their home. We sat up for a couple of hours talking and went to our room. We had a relaxing bath and it was off to bed around 1am. We woke early but got back to sleep for a bit.

Later that morning the visitors started arriving. After some time we had 40-50 relatives buzzing around us and eating the BBQ lunch. I was roped into a cricket match as the captain of a team. We didn’t bother much with keeping score and just had a fun time. I went to hit a ball which bounced over me, spun around, dropped the bat and landed smack bang on the ground on top of a bindi patch. They were stuck in my hands and leg which got scratched up and I had a pocketful as well. Catherine was having a lie down due to hayfever and I found her in the bedroom when the game had ended. Once most of the people had left we borrowed an old Festiva and drove into Newcastle to meet up with Chris and Jo and their daughter. I bought a couple of coffees at the Kotara Garden City shopping centre. Unfortunately (!) the cash register was broken so they had to give it to us free. Sweet! After a chat we jumped back in the car and drove home again. On the way I had passed a place I used to live in at Broadmeadow and showed Catherine. We got home and had another chat and drink then went to bed. Earlier in the day I had shown Catherine the YouTube page for Chris Crocker crying about Britney Spears and all the parodies of that recording. We had a fun time looking at that.

Sunday morning we got up and just relaxed, playing Pool and checking out the computer DVD burner which I didn’t have time to ascertain any issues. We had another BBQ lunch of the leftovers from the previous day and Jenny (my cousin) drove us back to the airport. We got our plane back and Catherine drove her car home to look after her animals. I drove over to pick up Sienna and we came back, tidied up the house and drove back to the airport to pick up my friend RuninDeer and her husband. We drove them back to my place and I cooked some pork and baked vegetables. We headed off to bed.

Monday morning we got up and had breakfast then drove down to the Gold Coast and stopped at the Hard Rock cafe so RuninDeer’s husband Don could buy some souvenirs. He collects Hard Rock cafe pins. We had lunch there and headed further south to the Currumbin Bird Sanctuary. We had a photo of us holding a koala taken then checked out the other animals and things around. Sienna had a photo of her holding a baby crocodile which I will upload to Flickr later. We saw koalas, dingoes, kangaroos, wedge tail eagles, giant crocodiles, wombats, etc. On the way out we bought some things since I paid with my credit card and that brand supplied me w

Hi Jase, my family is good. It is 40 degrees today which means veeery hot. There is only two weather reports here, hot and stinking hot. Still went to the gym , but. I must be crazy.
